DRA was contracted by Norilsk Nickel to provide a complete EPCM service for the design and construction of a nickel pre-concentrate DMS plant and associated crushing and screening systems for the Tati Nickel Mine located in Botswana.
The $161 million Tati Nickel pre-concentration plant was designed to process 12 million tonnes of ROM ore per annum, with a four module DMS capable of processing 1600 tph of pre-sized material (400tph per module). The upgraded nickel material was then conveyed into the existing Tati Nickel concentrator plant.
The other established battery limits were the product and grits transfers onto existing concentrator plant conveyors and the line discharging the DMS thickener underflow into the existing concentrator plant mill discharge sump. Design of the DMS waste dump and associated conveyor systems were also included within the DRA scope.
The pre-concentrator plant and associated crushing and screening plants were successfully commissioned in July 2008, on schedule and within budget.
