DRA Global extended its African gold track record through the full EPCM contract for the Aureus Mining, New Liberty gold project. New Liberty is located within the Bea-MDA property, in Grand Cape Mount County in the north-western portion of the Republic of Liberia, approximately 100 km north- west of the capital, Monrovia. The project objective was to provide a gold processing facility that will be capable of handling a nominal tonnage of 90 000 tpm throughput of ore.
DRA Global has been involved at the New Liberty project since its inception in May 2011, and was on site until commissioning in 2015. This was yet another project where DRA Global was responsible for various services, from total mine infrastructure development of a processing plant to the diversion of the Marvoe Creek away from the open cast pit, and the tailings storage facility. Despite some of the extreme challenges of implementing a project in Liberia, DRA Global managed to mitigate all risks and handed over the plant to Aureus Mining for full production in Q3 2015.
