Initially a Project Definition Stage (PDS) was carried out to optimise the process plant design and capital cost prior to full project implementation. The PDS followed on from a Bankable Feasibility Study carried out by others.
Subsequent to completion of the PDS a suitable second-hand plant was identified by the engineering group which further reduced the capital cost and significantly improved the project implementation time frame.
The second-hand plant (located in the Kimberley region of WA) was purchased by Hillgrove and the scope of works included the re-engineering of the project to accomodate the dismantle, transport, refurbishment and reinstallation of the processing facilities at Kanmantoo in South Australia.
The scope also included the design of several modifications to the secondhand plant along with a new crushing circuit and regrind circuit.
The Kanmantoo processing facility included primary and secondary crushing, crushed ore storage, SAG milling, floatation, regrind, concentrate thickening and filtration, concentrate storage and handling, reagent facilities and plant services.
